The short answer is I don’t know. This is a very sensitive situation that will require strong business sense mixed with compassion. On one hand there are landlords that are missing out on substantial sums of money. On the other hand, tenants are stuck in the mire of a national pandemic and a very uncertain job market.
The Supreme Court of the U.S. recently voted to end the eviction moratorium for renters in areas with a high transmission rate of Covid-19 which includes all of New York City. This means that the protections once afforded renters due to the Covid-19 crises are now going away.
